How to write in Armenian on Windows XP?
Sometimes it seems very difficult to find the answer to the simple question "How write Armenian on Windows XP?".
There is different solution for that problem and two of them we will try to introduce you.
First solution is setting up Windows XP "Language Option". Second solution is using well-known "KDWin Keyboard Driver" program.
How setup "Armenian Language Support" on Windows XP
First of all, you must open "Regional and Language Options". You can do that by going
"Start" > "Control Panel" > "Regional and Language Options"
Or you can do the same thing by going
From "Explorer" Address bar select "Control Panel"
Then click on "Regional and Language Options"
After you open "Regional and Language Options", go to the "Language" tab and select "Install files for complex script and right-to left languages (including Thai)", then click on "Apply" button. This will install Armenian language support ("Armenian Eastern" and "Armenian Western" keyboard layouts) in your system. Click "Details..." button to start keyboard layout setup.
Click on the language tab.
Check "Install files for complex script and right-to left languages (including Thai)" option.
Click "Apply" button
Click "Details..." button.
On the "Settings" tab click the "Add..." button to add a new keyboard layout to your "Language Bar". Select "Armenian" for "Input language:" option and "Armenian Eastern" or "Armenian Western" for "Keyboard layout/IME". You can also download and use "Armenian Phonetic Eastern (Custom)" layout, which is, we belive, more convenient to use than other two layouts. Click "OK" to set input language and appropriate layout.
Click "Add..." button
Set "Input language: Armenian"
Set "Keyboard layout/IME: Armenian Phonetic Eastern (Custom)"
Click "OK"
Click "Language Bar..." button and set "Set the Language bar on the desktop" option. Click "OK" to set language bar settings.
Click "Language Bar..."
Check "Set the Language bar on the desktop" option
Click "OK"
Click on the "Advanced" tab and make sure "Extend support of advanced text service to all programs" to turn on advanced text services.
Click "Advanced" tab
Check "Extend support of advanced text service to all programs" option
Click "OK"
Now you can see the "Language Bar" on the desktop. You can leave it there or by clicking "-" button, minimize it on the Task bar(recommended). Now you can change input language by clicking on the "Language Bar" button or use "CTRL+Shift" or "Left Alt"+"Shift" shortcuts, depending your settings on "Key Settings..."
Click "-" to minimize "Language Bar" on the Task bar
Click "Language Bar" button to change input language
